The time and space constraints have disappeared, as has been said. This is testified to by the incredible number of ODL institutions in the region. Open universities in single-mode increased from four during the 8th to 14 during the 10th Plan period.
The number of universities in dual-mode providing remote mode programs had already expanded to over 200.
That is because the development of the face-to-face education system does not fulfill the educational needs of the ever more ambitious students.
Almost 25% of higher education students in the country are registered in the ODL framework.
past six generations the ODL system has grown fast. It gave many good results.
In 1962, the number of ODL institutions reached about 250, including central, state, private and many independent institutions.
