The University Grants Commission or UGC Has Discharged Draft for the New Principles for the Enrollment of Personnel and Scholarly Staff in Colleges and Schools. The New Directions Will Be Known as UGC Regulations for (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities, Colleges, Institute and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Learning) in 2018-19.
Under the Draft Proposal, the UGC Has Suggested Many Changes in Minimum Qualification, Recruitment Process, Appointments on Contract Basis, Teaching Days, Selection Parameters, Etc.
Some Key Changes According to the Draft of the New Standards:
- Candidates having PhD exempted from NET for Assistant Professor– Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree Holders Will Be Exempted From the Prerequisite of the Base Qualification State of Net / Slet/ Set for Enlistment and Arrangement of Assistant Professor or Proportional Positions in Universities / Colleges / Institutions.
- NET & SET retains their status– The Draft Cleared Up That the National Eligibility Test (NET), or a Certify Test (State Level Eligibility Test Set/Slet) Should Stay the Base Qualification for Agreement of Assistant Professor and Balanced Position Wherever Gave in These Instructions.
- Appointments on Contract Basis- The Teachers be supposed to Be chosen on Contract Basis Only When It Is totally Necessary and When the Student-instructor Ratio Does Not please the Laid Down Norms.
- Teaching Days- The Universities/Colleges Must take on at Least 180 Working Days, I.e. There be Supposed to Be a Minimum of 30 Weeks of Real Teaching in a 6-day Week.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) Has Invited Response/ Comments/ Suggestions From the Stakeholders/ General Public on Draft Paper, Which is Uploaded in the Official Website of the UGC.
