The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is India’s one of the most prominent B-Schools for Business studies. IIMs are notable for their MBA, PGDM, PGP, Executive MBA, and fellowship programs. At present times, India has 20 IIMs in totality.
IIMs in India would always hold an attraction for management students. At the same time, the CAT exam is considered one of the most difficult exams to crack. IIM MBA courses are also one of the most expensive MBA courses in the country. These facts become an issue of concern among students who want to study management courses at the IIM but avoid appearing for CAT and look for management courses other than MBAs. For such students comes a respite in the form of courses like executive MBA, integrated MBA courses etc. these do not require a valid score of CAT and are not that expensive.
This is possible because apart from CAT, IIMs accept exams like GMAT and JIPMAT. These exams are held all over the country every year. Moreover, students can still fulfil their dreams by studying for other exams like JIPMAT and GMAT and getting into their desired IIMs.
Admission to IIM without CAT
To get admission in an MBA program in IIMs, students must hold a graduation degree in any area from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks (No lower limit for 2021) or equivalent GPA.
- Students who want admission into an IIM without CAT must write and qualify for the GMAT. They must write the GMAT exam and score the minimum required percentile to be eligible for admission in IIMs. Students need to qualify for both the sectorial and the overall cut-off GMAT score to get IIMs.
- Also, those who have cleared the minimum GMAT cut-off need to take WAT, GD, and PI process and clear it successfully. The passing of the GMAT cut-off doesn’t guarantee admissions into IIMs. After clearing all the compulsory assessment procedures and submitting the necessary documents, the aspirants are accepted.
- Students can also take admitted to the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) after Class 12. In these programs, students can study different subjects at the undergraduate level and choose a postgraduate program (PGP) after completing three years.
