On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) announced the admission guidelines for the Primary Teachers Training Institutes (PTTIs). In an interview, the president of the WBBPE Board Goutam Pal released this notification after an official meeting with PTTIs.
In the West Bengal State there are 656 PTTIs institutes. The board has said they will ensure that 100% transparency is maintained during the process of admission for the candidates.
Mr. Goutam Pal, president of WBBPE board said “To ensure that examinations are held and results are published in a timely manner, we have asked PTTIs to conduct admissions at the appropriate time. In the past few years, the Board has encountered a number of candidates who have been admitted at PTTIs without being registered with the Board.”
He also accepted that the delay in the examination has lead into the flouting of the admission guidelines by the institutes.
“We started the application portal online so that the board can allot admissions directly but the seats were left vacant. There are several institutes that accept admission via offline modes that lead towards the vacant seats” said a senior official.
